The fire broke out on the fourth floor of a luxury high-rise in south Kolkata on Monday (February 23, 2026), fire officials said.
The fire department received a call at 10:51 a.m. about a fire in an apartment in Anandapur area, after which one fire engine was rushed to the spot. However, the building’s internal fire suppression system had already brought the flames under control before firefighters arrived, they said.
The fire started in the apartment’s kitchen and no injuries were reported, officials said.
Firefighters conducted cooling operations to prevent any flare-ups, they said.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, officials added.
