Indian humanitarian aid reaches Venezuela: Jaishankar op. Amistad

Relief supplies, medical equipment and a field hospital unit sent to earthquake-hit Venezuela as part of Operation Amistad have arrived in the country, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Sunday (June 28, 2026), saying the aid would boost ongoing relief efforts there.
The Union Minister shared the update in a post on X.
“Indian aid is arriving in Venezuela. They believe a field hospital unit, relief supplies, medicine and medical equipment will support the ongoing relief efforts in the post-earthquake country. #OperationAmistad,” he posted, also sharing several photos of the shipment.
The Indian Air Force also shared an update on Operation Amistad in a post on X.
“Two #IndianAirForce C-17 Globemaster III aircraft responded with speed, range and compassion to complete a challenging 23-hour flight to Venezuela covering an aerial distance of over 14,000 km from Delhi to Caracas,” it said.
The aircraft landed at Maiquetía International Airport in Caracas carrying 66 tons of humanitarian aid, including an Indian Army field hospital, more than 35 tons of humanitarian supplies, medicine and medical equipment and two BHISHM cubesats, “demonstrating India’s ability to deliver hope across continents whenever needed,” the IAF said.
“This transoceanic deployment reaffirms India’s growing role as a responsible rescuer and reliable humanitarian partner. #HADR #HumanitarianAssistance #HarKaamDeshKeNaam,” the force said.
As part of India’s ‘Operation Amistad’ to offer humanitarian assistance to earthquake-hit Venezuela, two IAF C-17 Globemaster aircraft carrying humanitarian supplies and a 41-member rescue team took off on Friday (June 27, 2026) to assist the ongoing relief and rescue efforts in the country.

“India stands by the government and people of Venezuela during this difficult time,” the Ministry of External Affairs said on June 26.
The 7.2-magnitude and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes that struck Wednesday night were among Venezuela’s strongest in more than a century and were felt across the region.
The death toll from two powerful earthquakes in Venezuela rose to 1,430 on Saturday (June 28, 2026).
The death toll may rise, with thousands reported missing.
