An army dog named Tyson, who showed extraordinary bravery when under attack, received the first hit during the initial firing during an anti-terror mission in Kishtwar district on Sunday Jammu and Kashmir.
The casualty allowed security operatives to identify an insurgent hideout and eventually kill three individuals – among them, according to authorities, a senior leader of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) group.
The encounter started in Chatroo forest during a joint search mission when the hidden militants opened fire triggering a heavy encounter.

The movement was directed by Tyson, a specialist K9 attached to 2 Para Special Forces, tasked with guiding the soldiers to the target.
As the unit advanced, Tyson was hit in the leg by a bullet and received the first hit of the battle.
Even after being wounded, the brave dog pushed on, pinpointing the terrorists’ location and allowing the soldiers to attack them effectively.
Military officials credited Tyson’s unflinching courage as a crucial element in the swift defeat of the militants. After the fight, the dog was moved from the scene and taken to professional veterinary treatment. He is currently stabilized and in the process of recovery.
