Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Patil warned that vehicles with modified mufflers or horns making noise would be impounded and fined.
During the month-long special drive, the Kurnool sub-division and traffic police seized 100 modified mufflers and 500 loud horns mounted on autorickshaws. The seized items were destroyed in a road war near Kondareddy Fort in the city on Saturday.
Talking to the media, Mr. Vikrant Patil said that some youths were modifying mufflers and horns, causing inconvenience to people, especially at night. A special drive was conducted based on complaints from the general public. He pointed out that if a vehicle modified in violation of the Motor Vehicle Act is found, action will be taken against the owners. The SP asked the people to cooperate with the police in following the traffic rules and road safety norms.
