Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Sophie Shine in a private wedding ceremony on Saturday, February 21. The couple dated for several years and Dhawan went public with their relationship in May 2025. The pair were widely expected to get married after they had previously announced their engagement on January 12 on Instagram.

Dhawan and his estranged wife Aesha Mukherjee officially separated in October 2023, ending their 11-year marriage. The former Indian opener married Aesha in 2011; has two daughters from a previous marriage. However, their relationship collapsed after a long period of difficulties.
In the divorce, a Delhi court noted that Dhawan had suffered mental trauma and noted that his ex-wife had kept him away from his only child for several years. The court noted that Aesha either chose not to contest these claims or did not adequately respond to them.
Despite these observations, Dhawan was not granted permanent custody of Zoravaar. Instead, the court granted him visitation rights and allowed video calls for a “reasonable time” in both India and Australia, where Aesha is based. Dhawan has since stated that he was subsequently blocked from all forms of virtual communication with his son.
