IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Friday said Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a game changer that needs to be embraced, mastered and led through enhanced human skills.
Telangana has already started initiatives in this direction, from skilling and reskilling of the workforce, adoption of artificial intelligence in public services and social programmes, besides creating the backbone infrastructure for the people to benefit from the emerging technology, he said.
Addressing Swedish business representatives and global technology stakeholders at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Mr. Sridhar Babu said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government is ready to face the challenges posed by the rapid rise of AI.
Upskilling software professionals and future-ready talent is a priority. As AI significantly transforms job roles, the government has begun preparing the workforce for the transition, he said. AI research centers, applications and service ecosystems will create new job opportunities.
Stating that skills and reskilling have been the government’s guiding mantra for the past two years, the minister said the introduction of artificial intelligence in public services and welfare programs will boost last-mile connectivity and curb abuse. He called on global technology firms to work together to create advanced applications and innovations for this purpose.
A large-scale initiative is underway to provide internet connectivity to every village to ensure that the benefits of AI reach all citizens. T-Fiber has been trying to connect every village to the digital world for the past two years, Mr. Sridhar Babu said.
The minister’s office said he described Telangana as an “investment haven” and highlighted the state’s pro-innovation ecosystem, uninterrupted power supply and a stable policy framework that consistently welcomes new ideas and businesses.
Addressing a session on ‘Agents of Change: AI for Government Services and Climate Resilience’ at the summit, he said Telangana aims to emerge as a model for digital governance using technologies such as AI, quantum computing and blockchain.
