The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Amaravati Iconic Towers has directed officials to appoint departmental coordinators and collect information on space requirements before finalizing the allotment in the proposed Secretariat complex.
A sub-committee met at the Secretariat on Friday to decide on the allocation of space for various departments in the General Administration Department (GAD) tower and the four Heads of Department (HOD) towers.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, MA&UD Minister P. Narayana said that the discussions were on structural design, parking facilities and total number of employees at the state level.
He said officials have been instructed to collect data on staff strength, space requirements and required equipment of the department. While earlier proposals between 2014 and 2019 envisaged a built-up area of 52.72 million sft with a carpet area of 31.71 million sft for about 26,700 employees, the commission will reassess the current requirements. According to him, there are currently 39,882 sanctioned posts.
The committee also decided to examine the secretariats at Hyderabad, Naya Rayapur and others for reference. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday.
Ministers Payyavula Keshav, Nadendla Manohar, Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, BC Janardhan Reddy and Satya Kumar Yadav attended the meeting.
