Appointment of Nodal Officers charged with monitoring Gurukul Schools

February 20, 2026

In keeping with the highest priority for the welfare and safety of students studying in Gurukul welfare institutions, the government has ordered the appointment of nodal officers to conduct regular inspections of Gurukul schools and prepare an inquiry calendar well in advance.

According to the guidelines, the inspection plan should be aligned with district plans and shared with all concerned unions. The nodal officers are required to conduct inspections as per the prescribed schedule and also conduct surprise visits to verify the proper functioning of the educational institutions.

After each inspection, officials would have to prepare detailed reports and upload them immediately along with information on corrective actions taken. The district authorities have been instructed to immediately inform about the action initiated after the inspections.

The government further ordered that a summary report on the measures taken must be submitted to the relevant department heads and secretaries by the 5th of each month. These steps, the government said, are aimed at strengthening monitoring mechanisms and ensuring the overall well-being, safety and academic environment of students in Gurukul institutions across the state.
