Church Forum Pulls FCRA Curbs

The Assembly of Christian Trust Services (ACTS) on Sunday (June 28) criticized alleged “unwarranted restrictions” imposed in the Foreign Contribution Amendment (Regulation) Rules (FCRA) 2026.

The forum, made up of representatives of various church denominations, said it would plan a future course of action on the matter by liaising with non-Christian charities.

“We agree with the steps taken by the central government to prevent misuse of foreign funds and ensure transparency in such transactions. However, we strongly oppose restrictions imposed in the name of regulation,” ACTS General Secretary George Sebastian and Secretary Kuruvila Mathews said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the association observed a special cross-church day of prayer on Sunday to highlight its concerns about the law. Mr. Sebastian inaugurated the state-level meet as part of a ceremony at the YMCA hall here.
