India A Women stormed into the final of the Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup with a commanding five-wicket win over Sri Lanka A Women at the Terdthai Cricket Ground on Thursday. An all-round masterclass from Radha Yadav proved decisive as India chased down 119 off 39 balls to set up a summit clash against Bangladesh on Sunday, February 22.
India will now face Bangladesh in the final after the latter produced a dominant display in the other semi-final. Bangladesh crushed Pakistan by 54 runs, bowling them out for just 56 in 16.4 overs and defending a modest 110.
RADHA ROCKS SRI LANKA
Opting to bat after disciplined bowling from India, Sri Lanka Women A were restricted to 118 in 19.4 overs. Sanjana Kavindi top-scored with 31 off 35 balls while Shashini Gimhani added a brisk 22. However, Sri Lanka struggled to build a lasting partnership as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Radha Yadav was the main destroyer with the ball, returning impressive figures of 4 for 19 in 3.4 overs. Her left-arm spin dismantled the middle and lower order and ensured that Sri Lanka could never accelerate in the death overs. She found strong support from Prema Rawat, who took 2 for 9 in a miserable four-over spell, and Tanuja Kanwar, who chipped in with two wickets of her own.
VRINDA, RADHA Take INDIA HOME
In response, India A got off to a confident start despite losing Nandini Kashyap early. Dinesh Vrinda attacked brilliantly, smashing 42 off just 20 deliveries, laced with eight boundaries, to seize the momentum. Anushka Sharma contributed a fluent 27 as India pushed ahead in the chase.
Although Sri Lanka’s Shashini Gimhani struck twice to halt the progress briefly, Radha stepped up again – this time with the bat. She led the team unbeaten on 31 off 18 balls, hitting seven fours and finishing the job in style as India reached 119 for 5 in just 13.3 overs.
With momentum on their side and Radha Yadav in inspired form, India A will head into Sunday’s final brimming with confidence.
