Why Pakistan no longer trusts Babar Azam | T20 World Cup 2026
According to Telecom Asia Sport, team manager Naveed Cheema conveyed the PCB’s concerns to Shadab and informed him that his comments crossed the line during the post-match press conference. “Naveed Cheema called to tell Shadab that he was out of bounds at a press conference on Wednesday night. Shadab should know that all former players – including his father-in-law Saqlain Mushtaq – are respectable and are greats of Pakistan. Shadab should respect them and not use such language,” the report said. He further claimed that Cheema was directed to remind other players to limit their public comments to match-related matters and warned that disciplinary action could follow if boundaries were breached. Shadab’s father-in-law Saqlain Mushtaq also expressed his disappointment. “They were unwanted comments and most of the players played with me. Actually I am also one of those who didn’t win the ICC tournament but we won some big matches for Pakistan – Tests and ODIs,” Saqlain told Telecom Asia Sport. Pakistan will face New Zealand in their first Super Eight match in Colombo on Saturday. They will then face England in Pallekele on February 24, followed by a clash with Sri Lanka at the same venue four days later.
