
Harmanpreet Kaur’s joy knew no bounds after becoming the most capped player in the history of women’s international cricket. The Indian skipper achieved the milestone on Thursday, February 19, during the second T20I of the three-match series against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
Harmanpreet surpassed New Zealand legend Suzie Bates in the script history. Among Indian players, Mithali Raj is second on the list with 333 international appearances.

Before the match, head coach Amol Muzumdar gave a special speech in her honour, acknowledging her contribution to Indian women’s cricket.
“We are in such a state of Indian women’s cricket that every time someone takes the field, it is always a historic moment. But this is an absolutely special occasion because someone from our group is playing their 356th game,” Muzumdar said.
After the short ceremony, an emotional Harmanpreet acknowledged the moment by patting herself on the back. Her teammates, including Richa Ghosh and Amanjot Kaur, then gave her a warm hug to celebrate the historic achievement.

Harmanpreet has established herself as one of the most iconic figures in women’s cricket. Born in Moga, Punjab, she stormed the global stage with her explosive batting and fearless leadership. Her unforgettable 171 against Australia in the semi-final of the 2017 Women’s World Cup remains one of the greatest innings in ODI history.
She has amassed over 8,300 international runs across formats in her prolific career, underlining her consistency and match-winning ability at the highest level.
In 2025, Harmanpreet led India to their first women’s ODI World Cup titledefeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. She played a key role throughout the tournament, including a decisive knock of 89 in the historic semi-final chase against Australia – the highest successful run in a Women’s World Cup knockout match.
