
A 24-year-old engineering student died in a road accident on his birthday near Soladevanahalli on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Pavan Kumar, 24, a resident of Thotada Guddadahalli. He studied engineering and worked part-time.
According to the police, Pavan was celebrating his birthday with friends and was returning home on his bike around 5.30 pm. While driving from Kakolu Dairy Farm towards IHR, his bike was allegedly hit by a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction.
As a result of the impact, Pavan sustained severe head and limb injuries. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The truck driver reportedly fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. Chikkabanavara traffic police have registered a case. Preliminary investigation indicated that reckless and negligent driving of the truck driver led to the accident.
Woman Killed After Pace Hits Scooter
In another incident, a 25-year-old woman died after a scooter she was riding crashed into a scooter on Mico Layout 29th Main Road on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Kajol (25), a native of Orissa, who was working in a private firm and was returning home after work.
She fell on the road and was run over by a speeding passenger who killed her on the spot.
The Mico Layout traffic police registered a case and took the tempo driver and the scooter rider into custody.
Cyclist dies after KSRTC bus collides near Doddaballapur
In a separate accident, a 25-year-old cyclist was killed after he was hit by a private bus near Gundanagere village under Doddaballapur rural police station limits.
The deceased was identified as Ramkumar, 25, a barber, who was returning home. The police arrested the bus driver and registered a case.
