India’s star duo of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah left Ahmedabad with more than just another win on Wednesday night. After India beat the Netherlands by 17 runs to finish the group stage unbeaten, the duo received a lot of praise for what they did next with several Dutch players donating autographed jerseys.
India’s win completed a four-from-four clean run in the group stage and sealed a spot in the Super 8s. Once the match was over, Pandya and Bumrah stayed back on the field, chatting with the Dutch players and handing over their jerseys in a simple gesture of respect after a tough game.

Pandya played his part in the victory with an important all-round performance. He blasted 30 off 21 balls to give India a late push alongside Shivam Dube and help them to 193 batting first.
He then jumped in with the ball and finished with 1/40. Netherlands managed to target him late, Pandya conceding 18 in the 19th over, but India had enough in the bank to end the game.
Bumrah, as he so often does, was the calm center of India’s bowling effort. He bowled a tight spell of 3 overs for 17 runs and removed Netherlands captain Scott Edwards at a crucial moment in the chase.
The Dutch side put up a fight and kept making runs deep into the innings, but India held firm to defend their total and go into the next phase with momentum.
Now the focus is shifting quickly. India opened their Super 8 campaign with a blockbuster against South Africa in Ahmedabad, a repeat of the World T20 final in 2024. But before the tournament heats up again, Pandya and Bumrah’s post-match moment was a reminder that even in the biggest of competitions, there is still room for warmth beyond borders.
