Around 500 people from across the state attended the All India BSNL Pensioners’ Welfare Association (AIBSNLPWA) circular conference held in Vijayawada on Wednesday (February 18).
AIBSNLPWA National President D. Gopala Krishnan, General Secretary V. Vara Prasad and others spoke on organizational matters, pensioners’ welfare and legal developments.
Mr. Gopala Krishnan pointed out that after the revision of pension made in 2007, the next revision is due from January 1, 2017. Referring to the September 2023 judgment of the Delhi Chief Administrative Court, which ordered that the revision of pension be granted at par with that of Central Government employees, Mr. Gopala Krishnan should be made from January 1, with the pension being made from January 1 by the leading scale.
Mr. Vara Prasad said that the issue of pension revision was not included in the mandate of the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC). He warned that uncertainty about the effective date could adversely affect retirees who retired before 2026.
Through the conference, members urged the government to amend the terms of reference to include revision of pensions for ex-pensioners and clearly set 01.01.2026 as the implementation date.
