Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy presides over a review meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
Roads and Buildings and Cinema Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stressed the need for clear planning and financial discipline in the upcoming budget and called for prioritization of “game-changing” infrastructure projects, especially the Regional Ring Road (RRR), in line with the state’s long-term development plan.
He directed officials to prepare targeted results-based budget estimates for 2026-27, asserting that the roads and buildings department has a critical role to play in accelerating Telangana’s growth trajectory.
The minister, who chaired a review meeting at the secretariat on Wednesday, said the government plans to build high-quality roads across the state under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and urged officials to address the existing bottlenecks with coordinated efforts.
The minister emphasized transparency in the sharing of funds between the Center and the state, saying that there should be no ambiguity in the financial coordination of ongoing and proposed works.
On National Highway Projects, he announced that the eight-lane widening of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada section of NH-65 would begin soon. He said he is again urging Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite the project, which is expected to reduce travel time between Hyderabad and Vijayawada to about two-and-a-half hours after completion.
He referred to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision ‘Rising Telangana–2047’ and said that strengthening the road network remains a top priority in view of the rapid increase in vehicular load and population.
Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj assured that the department will prepare structured and realistic budget proposals as per the recommendations and ensure close coordination among officials for timely execution of priority works.
