The 191st birth anniversary of the saint-philosopher Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was celebrated by the Tirupati unit of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram on Wednesday evening.
In commemoration of ‘Sri Ramakrishna Jayanti’ on 19th February (Thursday), a huge procession called ‘Sobha Yatra’ was taken out from the Ashram premises at Vinayaka Nagar as a prelude and passed through the streets of Tirupati covering Alipiri, Nandi Circle, Anna Rao Circle and Hare Krishna Road.
With Ashram Secretary Swami Sukritananda leading from the front, devotees of the Ramakrishna Order joined the procession singing devotional songs, chanting verses and ‘bhajans’ and some performing ‘Kolatam’.
Children dressed as Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and mother Sarada walked in front of the procession, which turned out to be a highlight.
