Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR together hold a 50% share of India’s AI job openings, cementing their position as the country’s two largest hubs for AI talent, according to analysis by CBRE Research.

Findings from a study of over 64,500 AI-tagged jobs on Naukri.com as of December 2026 reveal that Bengaluru leads in AI job recruitment with a 25.4% share, closely followed by Delhi-NCR at 24.8%.

The report highlights the growing concentration of AI jobs in India’s leading technology and business hubs, showing that the country continues to build stronger capabilities in advanced digital technologies and become more advanced in AI.

This year, India hosted the AI Summit, which brought together policymakers, industry leaders and global technology experts to discuss the future of AI, boosting the country’s image as an emerging hub for innovation, talent and digital leadership.

Where did other major cities rank on the list?

Known as the financial capital of the country, Mumbai ranks third among major cities and accounts for 19.2% of AI-related job openings in the country.

Together, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai contribute nearly 70% of all AI vacancies in the country, revealing the clustering of top tech talent in several urban markets. Bengaluru is widely known for its thriving startup ecosystem and is home to several tech and financial giants.

Other cities such as Hyderabad (12.5%), Pune (9.6%) and Chennai (6.4%) form the next tier of AI employment hubs, while Kolkata has a relatively smaller share of 2.1% in the list.

“AI has gone from a buzzword to a pivotal point in the larger story of India’s economic and infrastructure growth,” Anshuman, chairman and managing director India, Southeast Asia and MEA at CBRE, told Magazine.

“The growing demand for AI professionals is not just a job trend, but a fundamental shift in how global businesses view India – as a hub for end-to-end innovation, rather than just a service provider. This development is set to redefine the country’s economic landscape and its position in the global digital value chain,” he said.

What is fueling the growth of AI jobs in Bengaluru?

According to the report, Bengaluru’s leadership in AI hiring is closely linked to its status as India’s Global Capability Center (GCC) capital. In 2025, the city captured more than one-third of the country’s total GCC leasing activity.

Technology and AI companies are increasingly choosing Bengaluru as a strategic base as it offers a wide range of skilled developers and a rapidly growing market demand. A recent notable example is American research firm Anthropic, which has officially opened its first Indian office in Bengaluru as part of its global expansion.

Delhi-NCR, unlike exclusively IT-focused hubs, is witnessing strong demand for AI across consulting, fintech, healthcare and public sector initiatives, the report said.
