Piyush Dhamanodia, accused of raping and killing his girlfriend and later attempting to summon her spirit using tantric rituals, shows little remorse for his actions. Outside the police station, with his hands cuffed, he appears oblivious to reporters’ questions about how he took the life of a 24-year-old MBA student.
As the media presses him for brutal rape and murder, Piyush Dhamanodia smiles and says, “Jo ho gaya wo ho gaya (What’s done is done).
“Kuch nahi hua hai, chhoro jo ho gaya ho gaya. Chhor do na, kya karge jaan ke…Acche se sabko karan bataunga, acche se. Time aayega (Nothing happened, let it be, what is done is done. Just let it be, what will you do when you know, properly..) I will explain everything properly.
On Wednesday, February 18, the Indore police carried out a detailed recreation of the crime scene at his rented flat in Dwarkapuri.
Piyush Dhamanodia killed his girlfriend, another MBA student, on February 11 at a flat in Indore. He allegedly sexually assaulted her, killed her and then desecrated her dead body again. After fleeing to Bombay, he attempted to “contact” her spirit through occult practices.
He was arrested from Mumbai’s Andheri area on February 14, a day after a woman’s body was found from his apartment in Indore’s Dwarkapuri area. She was reported missing on February 11. She told her family she was going to a birthday party and would be back by 11pm that night.
At around 11:00 pm that night, Piyush Dhamanodia sent a message from her phone: “Tell dad he’s not coming home,” NDTV reported. Her body was found a day later, on February 13, after neighbors alerted police to a foul odor emanating from the apartment.
The police also found a scarf, vermilion and bracelets from his apartment. Police said he watched videos online to learn the process of the ritual.
The police further revealed that after the murder, Piyush Dhamanodia used the victim’s mobile phone to circulate previously recorded intimate videos of the two in a college group, allegedly to defame her. He also sent the videos to all her WhatsApp contacts and even uploaded them to her status. His family was reportedly against the marriage.
