South Africa had the luxury of evaluating the Ahmedabad pitch before the India match: Bosch

February 18, 2026

Having already played three group stage matches in Ahmedabad, South African pacer Corbin Bosch believes the Proteas have a valuable lead ahead of the Super Eights clash against India in the T20 World Cup.

India and South Africa will face each other in their Super Eights clash on February 22.

Bosch loves that knowing the conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium can be crucial. “We’ve been lucky enough to play a few games in Ahmedabad which has been really nice because we’ve got two more to go now,” Bosch said.

“We’ve been given the luxury to assess the conditions and set game plans up front. The planning will now be more from an individual perspective than a team perspective and as a team how we want to operate,” added the son of former Proteas heartthrob Tertius Bosch.

While South Africa may be clear about the conditions, Bosch refused to pick out any particular Indian batter as a threat.

“I think their entire batting lineup is pretty destructive. So it’s going to be for all of them. All of their batsmen. I’m not going to single anyone out.”

Often seen as the fourth pacer behind the established trio of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen, Bosch strengthened his case impressive figures of 3 for 12 against the UAE on Wednesday in Delhi in conditions favorable to sailors.

The 31-year-old admitted that operating alongside the first-class fast starters allows him to play with freedom.

“It’s a privilege to be with a team with such incredibly fast bowlers. Anrich Nortje is still in the side. It’s a luxury but it also comes with a responsibility. The standards among the whole bowling line-up are really, really high.”

He added that the group thrives on collective success rather than individual milestones.

“It’s something that feeds off each other well. I think it’s the first time we’ve all played as a team so we’re still getting to know how we work as a unit. But we’ve done fantastic so far and there’s no extra pressure. It’s exciting because, like I said, you have the luxury of watching some of the best fast bowlers in the world.”

Bosch has also carved out a niche in the demanding death bowling role, typically between the 17th and 20th overs, often the busiest phase of a T20 innings.

He describes the challenge as both daunting and rewarding.

“It’s definitely not fun. But I think it’s a privilege. Pressure is a privilege. It’s one of those skills that when you master it, it goes really, really far. I’m honored to be a part of this setup and anything I can do for the team, I’m happy to put my hand up and do. It’s also something I’ve done for a long time,” Bosch said.

With clear conditions and a unified batting battery, South Africa will believe they are well equipped for India’s challenge in Ahmedabad.
