According to TJ Vinod, MLA, the construction of Vaduthala-Perandoor bridge has started.

The much-delayed project got a boost after the government approved a revised administrative sanction for the project estimated at ₹34.24 crore. In a statement, Mr. Vinod said that the tender process was terminated after receiving the technical sanction for the project.

The total revised estimate included ₹ 10 crore for land acquisition and various costs for relocation of services. According to the revised alignment, about 55 cents were recovered in Vaduthala and 34 cents in Perandoor. The project has received all legal clearances as per Coastal Regulatory Zone norms. Piloting work has started on the Perandoor side, it said.

Mr. Vinod said traffic congestion towards the city would ease with the completion of the bridge. He said that 20% interim sanction was taken for the total proposal of ₹ 5 crore for land acquisition connecting the approach road at Vaduthala with Chinmaya Road and for carrying out civil works.
