No state has privatized government medical colleges, says CPI leader

February 18, 2026

Communist Party of India National Secretary K. Ramakrishna said on Tuesday that no state in the country has privatized government medical colleges, but the state government has decided to involve private stakeholders in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy.

Addressing a joint press conference on the sidelines of the state-level CPI party meeting, Mr. Ramakrishna demanded that the government itself build all the necessary infrastructure in the newly approved medical colleges without handing over the responsibilities to private partners.

CPI State Secretary G. Eswarayaja urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to revive discussions with the neighboring Odisha government on long-pending irrigation projects to protect the interests of farmers in border areas.
