The proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council got off to an unusual start on Tuesday when the House met an hour later than scheduled due to a software-related technical glitch that disrupted the functioning of the system.
None of the microphones in both chambers were working, forcing the Speaker of the House and the Speaker of the Council to adjourn the meeting.
Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu informed the members that the delay was purely technical in nature and urged them not to politicize the issue. He clarified that the House has sufficient quorum and questioned the absence of some opposition party members saying that the House is fully competent to transact business.
The technical glitch affected not only the council, but also delayed the meeting in the Legislative Council by about an hour.
As an immediate solution, assembly members were provided with wireless microphones, allowing them to participate in discussions without interruption while officials worked to resolve the issue.
Despite the unexpected start, the House resumed normal functioning shortly after, with the Speaker stressing that administrative and technical challenges should not be misconstrued as political disputes.
