Five youths injured in clash between rival groups in Pithapuram

At least five youths were seriously injured in a clash between two groups in Pithapuram town of Kakinada district on Tuesday.

The injured were identified as S. Akash, M. Naga Suresh, P. Ashok, M. Rajesh and G. Rambabu. Mr Akash and Mr Naga Suresh belong to one of the groups involved in the incident.

In an official statement, Pithapuram Circle Inspector Manikumar said that on February 16, Akash had an argument with A. Siva, a maize seller, over a selling point. On Tuesday, friends of the two men rallied to support them and engaged in a confrontation, attacking each other with knives and sticks.

All the injured were taken to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada. According to doctors, their condition is not life-threatening. Police have registered cases against members of both the groups and investigations are underway.
