The four-day annual fair of the Sri Vishwaradhya temple at Abbetumkur village in Yadgir district will begin on Sunday and end on February 25.
Addressing a press conference at the temple premises on Tuesday, Peethadhipathi of Gangadhar Shivacharya Swami Temple said that a grand chariot procession would take place on Sunday after the traditional pujas and rituals.
He noted that Vishwaradhya was a great saint of the area and throughout his life he tried to build a casteless society and considered humanity above all else.
According to him, thousands of devotees from across the state and also from neighboring Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will participate in the annual fair.
Jagadguru Gavisiddeshwar Mahaswamiji of Gavisiddeshwar Mahasamsthan, Koppal, will preside over the Manava Dharm Samavesh (Religion of Humanity) during the evening programmes. A number of ministers will attend.
On February 24, Chief District and Sessions Judge HG Marulasiddaradhya and First Additional District and Sessions Judge A. Eranna will inaugurate the Sharana Samskriti Utsav, with seers of various religious mutts participating.
MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, Subhashchandra Koulagi and others were present.
