
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted that under the influence of a western disturbance, isolated light to moderate rainfall and snowfall is expected over the western Himalayan region on February 17 and 18.
The IMD also said that light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over the plains of northwest India during the same period.
However, maximum temperatures in the plains of northwest India are expected to remain 2-4°C above normal throughout the week, with temporary relief expected on February 17 and 18.
Here’s what the IMD predicted
Besides, isolated rainfall or snowfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on February 17-18 and Uttarakhand on February 18-19. West Uttar Pradesh may witness isolated rainfall on February 18.
Isolated rain accompanied by thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) are expected over Nicobar, Haryana and Rajasthan on February 17 and 18, similar thunderstorm and lightning activity is likely over West Madhya Pradesh on February 18.
Hail is also expected at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana and East Rajasthan on February 18.
Dense fog warning
Dense fog is expected during morning hours over isolated areas of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam till February 19.
Notice for fishermen
Anglers are advised to avoid launching into the following areas from February 17 to 22, 2026.
