A national conference on technology and AI in veterinary medicine begins in Chennai

More than 130 delegates from across the country are participating in a three-day national conference on “Emerging Trends, Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Medicine: Challenges and Opportunities”, which began in the city on Monday.

It was jointly organized by the Indian Society of Veterinary Medicine (ISVM) and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Madras Veterinary College. In his inaugural speech, Major General SS Balaje, CEO, Remount Veterinary Services, outlined the importance of AI for accurate diagnosis in veterinary medicine and urged young vets to focus on the latest developments in imaging, diagnostics and integration with AIR machine learning.

Narendra Babu, Vice-Chancellor-in-Charge and Registrar, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) said the university is collaborating with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s National Agricultural Science Fund on an AI and IoT veterinarian ecosystem for animal health, patient care and precision agriculture.

Among those present were R. Ramprabhu, President, ISVM, Rajiv Gaikwad, General Secretary, ISVM, P. Devendran, Dean, Madras Veterinary College, S. Satheshkumar, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, TANUVAS.
