Palarivattom police on Monday (February 16, 2026) arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a moving bus in Edappally. The accused has been identified as Sabu from Mannar in Alappuzha. The incident reportedly took place around noon inside a KSRTC bus when it was about to reach Edappally.
He was returning home after appearing before a Perumbavoor court in a similar sexual assault case when the alleged incident happened, a police officer said.
The Palarivattom police took him into custody after the bus passengers detained him following a tip-off from the complainant. The accused was charged with assault or criminal violence against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
