A. Vishnu Sai Theja scored 99.99 percentile in Joint Entrance Examination 2026 (JEE Main), Session-1, Paper-1 (BE/BTech) and emerged as the state topper. This time no candidate from the state secured 100 percentile.
A student of Narayana CO-Kaveri Bhavan, off Sarjapur Road, Bengaluru, Theja was ranked 14th among the 43 toppers. He scored 100 percentile in Physics, 99.99 in Chemistry and 99.97 in Mathematics.
“I have always wanted to study in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and my interest is in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Now I am preparing for JEE session-2. After returning from college, I studied for almost four hours everyday. Our teachers mentored me to face the exams and many mock tests were given to prepare the students for the exam.”
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday announced the result of JEE (Main)-2026, Section 1 Paper 1 for admission to professional courses like BE/BTech in premier technical institutes like Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs).
This time a total of 12 candidates secured 100 percentile score. Rajasthan has the highest number of top scorers with three students, followed by Andhra Pradesh with two and one student each from Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana scoring 100 percentile marks.
JEE (Main) 2026 session-1 of paper-1 (BE/BTech) was conducted by NTA from January 21 to 28 at 658 centers in 326 cities (including 15 cities outside India) across the country. Among the 13,55,293 candidates registered for the exam, a total of 13,04,653 appeared. The exam was held in 13 languages, including Kannada.
