World Cup T20: India humbled Pakistan again

Two of the four groups have a complete picture of who qualified and who was eliminated. From Group C, the Windies and England are already in the Super 8s, and the remaining three teams in the group — Scotland (late replacements for Bangladesh), debutants Italy and Nepal — are out.And in Group D, New Zealand became the latest to book their place in the Super 8s after defeating Canada in their final group match. The Kiwis joined South Africa in the next round from the group. Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates and Canada are now out of the race.In the other two groups, one place is still up for grabs and only two teams – Namibia from Group A and Oman from Group B – are eliminated from the race.In Group A, India advances to the next stage, with Pakistan, the USA and the Netherlands fighting for the remaining spot. USA has played all four games in the group and is second behind India with four points. With four points, Pakistan is third due to a lower net rate than the US. Then Pakistan face Namibia and a win will secure them a place in the Super 8s. Netherlands have a game against India and are still fighting for two points.GROUP APWLNRPTSNRRIIndia (Q)33006+3.050USA42204+0.787Pakistan32104-0.403Netherlands31202-1.352Namibia (E)30300-2.443In Group B, Sri Lanka stormed into the Super 8s with a shock win over Australia, leaving the Aussies on the brink of an early exit. Australia now need a miracle to progress after two consecutive defeats – against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe are in the driver’s seat in the race for the remaining group spot with two games in hand. A win against Ireland on Tuesday will put Zimbabwe through to the Super 8s and Australia’s campaign will be ruined. Australia can progress only if they beat Oman by a wide margin and Zimbabwe lose both their matches — against Ireland and Sri Lanka. Even one point due to rain will put Zimbabwe through to the next round.GROUP BPWNLRPTSNRRSri Lanka (Q)33006+2.462Zimbabwe22004+1.984Australia31202+0.414Ireland31202+0.150Oman (E)30300-4.546Group C is sorted, with West Indies and England already through to the next round.GROUP CPWLNRPTSNRRWest Indies (Q)33006+1.820England (Q)43106+0.201Scotland (E)31202+0.359Italy (E)31202-0.588Nepal30300-1.942As well as C, Group D is also now seeded.
