The Government of Karnataka has announced the amount of social cess to be collected from aggregator platforms to provide social security benefits to gig workers based on the platform.

While the Karnataka Platform-Based Gig Workers (Social Security and Welfare) Act, 2025 mandates a social levy of 1-5% of the worker’s salary for each transaction, the government has decided to keep the lower end of the range and fixed the levy at 1% per transaction for all services.
