A two-year-old boy was killed after a speeding vehicle allegedly hit and ran over a scooter near the Kithaganur main road on Sunday evening.
According to the complaint, the incident took place around 6 pm when Vijayalakshmi and her son Badri were traveling on a two-wheeler along with two-year-old Trishan. They were heading from Kithaganur towards Margondanahalli.
While the scooter was stopped in traffic, it was hit from behind by a passenger car, allegedly traveling at high speed from the same direction.
The child fell on the road as a result of the impact, after which the car ran over him and caused serious injuries.
The injured child was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bhattarahalli, where he was declared brought dead.
The complaint stated that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving. The police registered the case, further investigation is underway
Angry passers-by protested and demanded immediate repair of the damaged roads as well as measures to ease traffic congestion in the area.
The KR Puram traffic police arrested the driver, identified as Krishna Mohan Menon, and charged him with causing death by negligence and for rash and negligent driving.
The wounded woman succumbs
In another incident, a 45-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries on Sunday evening after she was hit by a truck at the Adugodi traffic police station limits.
The accident happened on Sunday when Amala was returning home from church with her son on a riding pill. The vehicle was allegedly hit by a truck, causing her to lose her balance and slide under the truck.
The truck allegedly ran over her legs and severely crushed both of them. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite her efforts, she succumbed late at night.
The Adugodi traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
Pedestrian killed
In the third incident, a 35-year-old pedestrian was killed on Sunday after he was hit by a two-wheeler while crossing the road in HAL.
The deceased was identified as Rajesh Sardar, a native of Assam. He was working at a hotel and was on his way home after work when the accident happened.
He suffered severe injuries in the crash and died.
A case has been registered at the HAL traffic police station and further investigation is underway.
