Sanofi expands GCC in Hyderabad to host up to 4,500 employees

Sanofi Healthcare India (SHIPL) is expanding its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad by 2.7 lakh square feet. workspace.

With the additional space, GCC can host up to 4,500 employees, up from the previously planned 2,600, making it one of Sanofi’s largest global concentrations of talent. The company would also say that the site would become one of the three largest pharma GCCs in India.

Sanofi announced in July 2024 the expansion of GCC by €400 million over six years and the creation of an additional 1,600 jobs by 2026. From a medical center in 2019, the facility has grown exponentially to provide various services to the French pharmaceutical giant’s global functions and its subsidiaries around the world.

The growth of the GCC will create a diverse range of roles spanning research and development, digital innovation, data analytics, medical affairs, human services, financial and procurement services and commercial operations, offering exciting career opportunities for professionals at all levels, Sanofi said in a statement on Monday on IT and Industry Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the inauguration of the GCC.

The current headcount at GCC is a little over 2,600 and the 2.7 lakh sq.ft. area is more than 2.8 lakh sq.ft. announced less than two years ago, sources said.

Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy said in a release that “Sanofi’s GCC expansion reflects Telangana’s growing position as a global hub for innovation-based life sciences (and reinforces) our vision of creating high-skilled jobs, accelerating digital and scientific innovation and positioning the state among the world’s leading life sciences ecosystems.”

Sanofi’s Head of Business Operations Madeleine Roach said, “Hyderabad GCC operations serve to support critical processes across the research, development, manufacturing and drug access lifecycle. India’s exceptional talent pool in digital innovation, AI and data science is critical to accelerating our transformation and advancing our mission.”
