Woman’s death confirmed as homicide; looking for a partner for housing
The mysterious death of a 30-year-old woman, initially ruled as an unnatural death, has now been confirmed as a homicide following a post-mortem report. The Jigani police have launched a manhunt for the prime suspect, who has been on the run since the incident.
The body of the victim, identified as Akshata Indaragi (30) of Ilkal in Bagalkote district, was found in a decomposed state on June 17 in a rented house near Patalamma temple in Jigani, Anekal taluk. She lived in a house owned by the municipal councilor Ramesh.
Neighbors alerted the home owner after noticing a foul odor and found the house had remained locked for nearly three days. The police initially registered a case of unnatural death.
CCTV footage later revealed that Akshat’s live-in partner, identified as Nanne Saab, left the house and disappeared after the incident. The owner of the house subsequently filed a complaint suspecting her death.
The postmortem report confirmed that Akshata was strangled and assaulted before the murder, prompting the police to register a case of murder.
During the investigation, the police discovered that Nanne Saab was already married. They also found that Akshata was previously married to Krishna Indargi and had two children from that marriage. According to investigators, Akshata left her husband and children about six months ago after developing a relationship with Nanne Saab while working in a sari weaving industry in Ilkal. The couple later moved to Jigani in search of jobs in a garment factory and lived together in a rented house.
After the murder case came to light, Hindutva section members staged a protest outside the Jigani police station, alleging that the accused had lured a Hindu woman into a relationship and later murdered her. They demanded his immediate arrest and strict legal action. Police said they are trying to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
