India AI Impact Summit 2026: Can foreign delegates use UPI? NPCI’s ‘One World’ Wallet Goes Global – Here’s How It Works | Today’s news

February 16, 2026

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Monday launched its ‘UPI One World’ wallet service for international delegates attending the India AI Impact Summit 2026. As part of the pilot initiative, the facility is being offered to visitors from over 40 countries attending the summit at the Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20.

The service enables foreign travelers to seamlessly make real-time (P2M) merchant-to-merchant (P2M) payments across India – without the need for a local bank account or even an Indian mobile phone number, making digital transactions much easier during their stay.

The ‘One World’ wallet allows visitors to shop, eat and access services across India using native digital payment systems, avoiding the hassle of carrying cash or repeatedly exchanging currencies.

Once linked to the user’s international mobile number, the ‘One World’ wallet can be used at stores that accept UPI payments – in cities, towns and even rural areas.

How to get a wallet?

The digital wallet is issued through authorized Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) providers and can be obtained from two key locations:

  1. New Delhi International Airport,
  2. NPCI Pavilion at Bharat Mandapam (Hall 14, Stand 14.16), NPCI said in a post on social media platform X.

How to make payments using UPI One World?

Travelers can top up the wallet using international debit or credit cards and make payments by scanning standard UPI QR codes.

Once your digital wallet is loaded with INR, you can use it to make payments using the following steps:

– Open the app and select “Scan and Pay”

– Scan any merchant’s UPI QR code

– Enter your UPI PIN to complete the transaction

The system allows maximum load 25,000 per transaction with a monthly limit 50,000. Any remaining balance at the end of the visit may be transferred back to the original source of payment in accordance with foreign exchange regulations.
