Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Sunday (February 15, 2026) that Vallalar’s birth anniversary will be celebrated for three days every year.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the day-long Vallalar International Conference organized by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department at the grounds belonging to the Ekambaranathar temple in Kilpauk.
He also announced the establishment of a research center on the saint in Chennai. It would come at the headquarters of the HR&CE department at Nungambakkam. The announcement followed a request by industrialist BK Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, who also praised the government for organizing a memorial event for Vallalar on such a grand scale. He urged the Chief Minister to start certificate courses on Ramalinga Swamigal’s ‘Sanmarga’ teachings in colleges and universities.
Other announcements made by the chief minister included Vallalar’s book titled Spiritual Alchemy to be published by the HR&CE department and the establishment of Vallalar Annadhanam centers at Mettukuppam, Karunguzhi and Marudhur.
Mr. Stalin inaugurated the board of trustees with the new name Vallalar High Road for Thiruvottiyur High Road in north Chennai and inaugurated the completed sections of the Vallalar International Center in Vadalur. He urged members of the public and ‘Sanmargis’ to work together to build a society based on love, compassion and virtue and ensure that Vallalar’s ideologies are not distorted.
Ministers PK Sekarbabu and MRK Panneerselvam, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, HR&CE Secretary K. Manivasan and Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran were present on the occasion. Herb and siddha exhibitions and a photo function on the life and work of Vallalar were held as part of the conference.
