
MES Keveeyam College in Valanchery organized a three-day conference on interdisciplinary engagement across art, literature, culture and science. Inaugurating the conference, Syed Abid Hussain Thangal, MLA, called for ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, health and governance.
In his keynote speech, educator Rafael González Macho from Spain described language as an essential bridge of cultural exchange. He said that languages carry civilizational knowledge and human experience across generations and that their survival is closely linked to the survival of cultures.
Presenting the paper, PA Muslim Education Society President Fazal Ghafoor said analysis of images and visual archives will help scholars reinterpret history, preserve collective memory and recover marginalized narratives. He added that visual art served as a key cultural document reflecting social change and lived reality.
Titled ‘Insight’, the conference brought together scholars, researchers and practitioners from India and abroad to explore the intersections of language, culture, health, technology and ecology. The discussion highlighted how academic research across disciplines could contribute to a deeper understanding of society and sustainable development.
Others who spoke at the conference included poet P. Raman; Liyaqath Ali, former director of the Maulana Azad Center for Indian Culture, Egypt; Ratheesh K. Melappattu of the University of California, USA; VP Sakeer Hussain of Calicut University; Maniazhagu of Alagappa University; Anthony Addlagatta of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad; and Sabu Thomas of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
