February 16, 2026

Dissident Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) leader and Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) chairman PK Sasi stayed away from the Kerala North Kerala Left Democratic Front (LDF) Vikasana Munnett Jatha led by party state secretary MV Govindan when the march reached the district on Sunday.

Mr. Govindan told the media here that Mr. Sasi remained in the branch party committee after his demotion because he had problems with the party leadership.

Mr. Govindan said he would not say what the government would testify in court on the Sabarimala issue. He said women could enter Sabarimala when the court ordered.

He described the Ayyappa global meeting audit report as flawed and incomplete and said he would respond only when the full report was available.

Mr. Govindan said that Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama’s stance against religious nationalism and political Islam served as a warning to Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan and All India Muslim League General Secretary PK Kunhalikutty against their alignment with Jamaat-e-Islami.
