Invoking the divine blessings of Lord Shiva for the prosperity of the state and the welfare of its people, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday offered special prayers at the Sri Mrityunjaya Swamy Temple in Madhira on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
On this occasion, accompanied by his wife Nandini, Mr. Vikramarka performed a special archana on behalf of the Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy and members of the State Cabinet for their good health and longevity.
The couple also performed rudrabhishekam to the presiding deity.
Elsewhere in Khammam district, devotees thronged Shiva temples, including two ancient Kakatiya-era temples in Kusumanchi. The three-day annual Maha Shivaratri jatara began at Teerthala, the seat of Lord Sangameswar, in Khammam rural mandal on Sunday.
