Bengaluru corporations appear to be issuing identity cards to street vendors with discrepancies in details, raising fears of illegal evictions and cancellation of street vending licences.
Cards issued to sellers contain incorrect addresses of sales zones, incorrect photos and other errors. They are also covered with Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) name stickers covering the name of the erstwhile Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) printed on the cards, which vendors say could peel off and render the cards invalid.
