Savannah Guthrie to stay off ‘Today’ show as search for Nancy’s mother continues: Report | Today’s news

February 15, 2026

Savannah Guthrie will stay off NBC’s “Today” show for the “foreseeable future” as the search for her missing mother continues, according to a Page Six report.

The 54-year-old journalist is currently in Tucson, Arizona, where authorities continue to search for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie. The search has now entered its 15th day.

Savannah has served as co-host on NBC’s flagship morning program since July 2012.

The outlet noted that it announced in October 2024 that Savannah Guthrie has more than a year remaining on her reported $7 million-a-year contract, meaning a renewal may be imminent.

But insiders objected to the timing of such talks.

“Everyone at ‘Today’ is taking it day by day and obviously giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs,” one source told Page Six. The source added that staff are “all praying all the time” for a resolution to the situation.

Another source called talk of her professional future during the ongoing search “hurtful,” according to the publication.

Page Six also announced that Guthrie’s former co-host, Hoda Kotb, will return to the anchor desk again this week as the show continues without Guthrie.

There has been no official statement from NBC regarding the length of Guthrie’s leave as colleagues and viewers await updates on the search for her mother.

Missing Nancy Guthrie: The search has entered its third week

The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has entered its third week as investigators follow forensic clues and sift through thousands of tips.

Nancy was last seen on Jan. 31 at her home in Tucson. Authorities found a trail of blood at the residence and later released footage of a masked suspect seen outside her door. The Federal Bureau of Investigation named the person a suspect.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is analyzing DNA evidence and the recovered gloves while aerial searches are underway using a Bluetooth detection device to locate the signal from Nancy’s pacemaker.

Alleged ransoms have been sent to the media, although deadlines have passed and no arrests have been made. Authorities say more than 13,000 tips have been received as the family continues to make public pleas for her safe return.
