A man and a woman died on the spot after the two-wheeler they were traveling in collided with a van on the Kothagudem flyover near Devarapalli on the state highway in East Godavari district.
The incident took place at midnight on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old M. Raj Siva Krishna and 36-year-old P. Chinnari of Subbarayapuram village in Devarapalli Mandal.
Kovvuru DSP Devakumar said the two-wheeler, both of them were moving on, was traveling on the wrong side, leading to a collision with a van that was traveling from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram. The driver and two passengers in the van suffered minor injuries.
The bodies were taken to Gopalapuram Government Hospital for post-mortem. The police have registered a case and the investigation is ongoing.
