Leftist voters to vote for UDF in upcoming Kerala assembly elections: KC Venugopal

February 15, 2026

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venugopal, MP, said here on Saturday that a major chunk of United Democratic Front (UDF) votes will come from left-leaning voters in the upcoming Assembly elections.

He said the people of Kerala fear that another victory by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) will create a Bengal-like situation in the state.

“After witnessing the failure of the state government, its allies are also under stress. Many who support communist ideals may react without fully understanding the situation,” he said.

“People like K. Satchidanandan and Premkumar reacted. Since Mr. Satchidanandan is a nationally recognized personality, he was spared; but Mr. Premkumar was sidelined,” he said.

Mr. Venugopal described the Global Ayyappa Meet organized by the government as the biggest scam that Kerala has witnessed in recent times. “CPI(M) must stop using temples and religious centers for scams,” he said.
