
The opening date of Kedarnath temple was announced on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday revealed that the opening date of the shrine depends on the Hindu calendar and changes every year.
Pushkar Singh Dhami on February 15 said that the state government is working to ensure that devotees remain safe during their religious visit as he announced the reopening date of the Kedarnath temple – April 22.
“I would like to wish everyone all the best on the occasion of Mahashivratri. May Lord Shiva give us enough strength to work together and contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Kedarnath Temple portals will be opened on April 22. Preparations have already started. We will ensure that all Uhandrakhoomi, Devb Temple are safe, devotees are safe. The number of Lord Shiva devotees is increasing every year and they are flocking to religious places. We are making efforts to ensure everyone’s safety,” ANI quoted the Chief Minister as saying.
Located in Rudraprayag, Garhwal, Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Badarinath Dham Kapat will open on April 23 but the opening date of Kedarnath Dham yatra has not been announced yet. According to tradition, the Kedarnath temple opens a few days after Akshaya Tritiya. This year, Akshaya Tritiya will be held on April 19.
Last year, the portals of Kedarnath Dham were ceremonially closed for the winter season at 8:30 am on October 23. They are expected to close on November 11 this year to coincide with the Bhai Dooj celebration.
The world-renowned eleventh Jyotirlinga, Kedarnath Dham, is situated on the banks of the Mandakini River. It is considered one of the sacred pilgrimage centers and is located at an altitude of 3584 meters above sea level.
The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has confirmed that the temple doors will open on the auspicious day of April 22 at 8:00 AM.

Morning time Arti — from 4:00 am to 7:00 am
Morning Timing of General Darshan — 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Evening Arti Time — 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Evening time of General Darshan — 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Kedarnath Temple remains closed from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on all days.
