Tariq has become a big topic due to his rare bowling style which uses a sidearm action and a delayed release which makes it difficult for the batsmen to judge the ball. He has only played four T20 matches for Pakistan but has attracted attention since being selected for the World Cup. Although his act was reported twice in the past, he was later cleared by the ICC. Due to physical issues with his elbows, he cannot bowl with a completely straight arm like normal spinners. Before the match, Suryakumar likened Tariq to a tricky exam question and said, “You see, sometimes in the exam there is also a question which is out of the syllabus. So we can’t leave that question.” He added that India will not give up and prepare their own way to deal with him: “To deal with it, you have to adopt your own way. Yes, it is a different character when it comes to bowling. But at the same time, we cannot just give up. We practice with similar types of bowlers and similar actions. We will try to execute what we practice in the net sessions.”
