Former President Barack Obama has made a veiled mockery of a controversial racist monkey video posted by US President Donald Trump that was later deleted, telling a podcast host that the sense of “shame” and “decorum” that once shaped the behavior of public officials has disappeared.
Obama said this during an interview with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen, who asked the former president, the first black leader of the United States, about the increasingly harsh tone of the political debate. Cohen referred to Trump’s recent social media post as one of several controversies that have drawn criticism.
