
The state government has proposed a comprehensive plan to strengthen the police department to curb online fraud and so-called digital arrests. In the 2026-27 budget presented on Saturday, the Home Ministry was allocated ₹9,165 crore.
With a focus on crime prevention and modernization, the government plans to build technology-driven policing by establishing SMART Policing Labs and implementing artificial intelligence policing projects. Modernizing communications and security equipment, expanding CCTV networks and deploying drones have also been proposed to improve surveillance and response capabilities.
Cyber crime police stations will be set up in every district to deal effectively with cyber crimes. The government also announced the introduction of 3,000 new vehicles to the police fleet to improve mobility and field operations across the state.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav said that ₹15 crore has been earmarked for the proposed Andhra Pradesh Police Academy. The government has also approved 3,920 posts for new APSP battalions to be set up in Rajahmundry, Chittoor, Ongole and Srikakulam.
100 new courts were sanctioned for the Ministry of Justice. Work estimated at ₹ 349 crore will begin in 2026–2027 under Phase I to strengthen judicial infrastructure.
As part of the modernization of the fire service, 17 new fire stations will be established to reduce response times and improve response coverage. Advanced firefighting vehicles equipped with search and rescue equipment will also be procured.
The state training center will be strengthened by upgrading the training infrastructure for AP State Response and Fire Services personnel, the minister added.
