Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao noted that the ruling Congress is not entirely satisfied with the results of the elections held in 116 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations as they could not curtail the BRS as planned.

In an informal chat with reporters here on Saturday, he said the struggle led by BRS ranks has enabled the party to win more wards than the ruling party expected. Despite the ruling party’s calculation, the BRS leadership hoped to win a majority of precincts in about 30 municipalities, but could not exceed 17. The party would also have a chance to win a few more municipalities where no party would win the required majority.

He stated that he was not aware of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders claiming that they were performing well. Compared to the past, this time they secured a smaller share of votes and number of choirs. The BJP failed to win even a single municipality despite its national president and chief minister campaigning in some places.

The BRS leader alleged that the Congress had pumped money in a big way. The results of the gram-panchayat and municipal elections were an apt lesson for all those who called off the BRS after the Lok Sabha elections.

Regarding the ex officio members, Mr. Rama Rao said that the Government was not clear because the District Collectors were talking one thing and the Chief Secretary another. He sought to find out how many seats Congress won in municipal and other local body elections when it was in opposition and how many seats Congress could have won in GHMC when Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was TPCC president and MP from Malkajigiri.

Regarding the Formula E car racing case, he said he would attend the examination as many times as he was called and would tell the truth again and again.
