PM Modi says Cabinet has given nod to several projects to reduce logistics costs and create jobs – see full list | Today’s news

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the Union Cabinet’s decision of the previous evening will improve infrastructure and make life easier.

The union cabinet met on Friday evening where several decisions regarding infrastructure projects were taken.

In a series of X posts, PM Modi informed that the Cabinet has approved three multi-tracking projects across districts in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra and Karnataka. These projects will strengthen railway infrastructure, reduce logistics costs and create job opportunities for young people.

Here’s a look at the key projects approved by the government —

Hyderabad Panaji Economic Corridor

The decision to widen National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar to Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor will boost economic growth, create employment and further ‘Easy of Living’.

Gujarat

He also mentioned that the Union Cabinet’s approval to upgrade Dhamasiya-Bitada/Movi and Nasarpore-Malotha sections of National Highway-56 to “four-lane standard” will boost connectivity, especially in remote and tribal areas of Gujarat.

“At the same time, it will allow more people to visit the Statue of Unity,” he said.

Maharashtra

The Cabinet Committee has approved the rehabilitation and upgrading of Ghoti–Trimbak (Mokhada)–Jawhar–Manor–Palghar section of NH-160A in Maharashtra under Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode with a total length of 154.635 km and a total capital cost of 3,320.38 million crowns.

“An important decision by the government which will boost economic growth in Maharashtra, especially in parts west of Nashik. It will reduce congestion and increase employment opportunities,” PM Modi said.

Easy living for Noida residents

Modi emphasized that to improve the “ease of life” for the people of Noida, the government has approved the extension of the corridor from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Gardens (Noida).

“Cabinet has approved the extension of corridor from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden (Noida). This decision will give impetus to the development path of Noida. Congestion will also be reduced significantly,” he said.

Connectivity in the Northeast

The Cabinet approved a four-lane controlled access Greenfield Corridor between Gohpur and Numaligarh, including India’s first undersea Road-cum-Rail tunnel under the Brahmaputra.

This project aims to improve connectivity, reduce logistics costs and accelerate growth in Assam and the entire Northeast.

Urban Challenge Fund

Apart from the connectivity projects, the government has approved the launch of the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) with total central assistance 1 lakh crore. This will cover 25% of the project cost, subject to raising at least 50% of the project cost from the market.

This will lead to a total investment 4 lakh crore in the urban sector in the next five years.

“The Union Cabinet has approved the Urban Challenge Fund, which will use market-based financing, private participation and citizen-centric reforms to ensure better urban infrastructure,” PM Modi said.
