Industries Minister P Rajeeve said people behind the narrative that the Left should not be allowed to return to power in the state for a third term were trying to weaken the front.
He claimed that the story was created by the opposition to create an impression among the public that the Left should not be allowed to return to power for the third time in a row.
On poet K. Satchidanandan’s remarks warning against the dangers of continuous rule, citing West Bengal as a cautionary example, Mr. Rajeeve said the Left Front had the ability to respond to criticism by making the necessary corrections.
The state will face a crisis if the Left’s rule does not continue, he said, citing Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala’s criticism against the early distribution of school textbooks for the upcoming academic year and opposition to the Wayanad tunnel and high-speed rail projects.
He asked whether those speaking against a third term for the Left in the state would take a similar stand in states like West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The minister asked whether they would be against another term for Chief Minister MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu or for the government in West Bengal. He said such votes will only help the Bharatiya Janata Party return to power.
